Makeup National Championship presented by MAC and Makeup Artist Magazine

Join us on the Main Stage as we showcase YOUR professional makeup skills! The best beauty/fashion/professional makeup artist will be named the National Champion. This is NOT a special effects makeup competition!
How to register: Be sure to read all the rules carefully below. You must complete your online registration form (link below). You must also upload 3 photos of your best work with your entry form: these should showcase your best makeup application.
You must submit your entry form by October 6th 2017! There will be no sign ups after October 6th, 12:00am PST. Keep in mind you must receive an invitation via email from our Makeup Competition Director in order to participate at Stan Lee’s Los Angeles Comic Con. 
Invitation emails will be sent out on October 9th, 2017.
There will be NO ON-SITE registration.
Where and when: 
Check in is Sunday, October 29th at 10:30am.
Between 10:30-10:50am kits are to be set up and "before" pictures of models will be taken. 
Application begins at 11am. You will have 2 hours to complete your makeup. 
Prejudging will begin at 1pm and "after" photos will be taken at this time. 
The finals and award ceremony will be on the Main Stage, 1:30pm hosted by Bernadette Bentley.
You MUST check in by 10:30am in order to participate. Be sure to be on time as there will be NO LATE ENTRIES allowed once application begins. Check back for more times on location.
Judges and hosts: While we will not announce the judges at this time, know that the judges are selected from fine women and men who work in the Makeup Communities, including from our sponsors. Our hosts will be spotlighted and well-known Makeup personalities from on-screen media to published work in the community who are not only engaging, but also entertaining.

The following rules apply to all entrants. Entry into the event is at the discretion of the event staff, and we reserve the right to reject ANY entrant whose makeup does not adhere to these rules. This also goes for any entrant displaying disrespectful, rude or hostile behavior.
Entries for this year's L.A. Comic Con Makeup Contest will focus on beauty/fashion/professional makeup.
Best makeup application followed by 2nd and 3rd runner up will be selected.
You are responsible for bringing your own makeup kit, and your own subject/model.
You are not allowed to utilize an assistant in your application of the makeup.
Note: Unfortunately, we will not have any makeup or materials on hand. You are responsible for your own makeup and tools.
The minimum age for entrants is 18 years of age and up.
Contestant and their model will receive a weekend Pro-badge to Stan Lee’s Los Angeles Comic Con.
Anticipate about 3 minutes presentation of your makeup to the judges during pre-judging. Depending on the complexity and detail, the judges may request additional time to observe and properly judge your makeup during the actual show. There will be time for a small 1-3 minute presentation on the main stage during the finals.
On the day of the event, contestants must arrive on time for check in, check back for this time and location info. All contestants will be brought to the competition floor, which will be on the convention floor and viewable by all attendees. Contestants will have time to set up their kits and prepare their subject.
Contestants will have two hours to apply a professional makeup to their model. All models must be completely clean of all makeup at the beginning of the application. A “before” photo of the model will be taken before the competition begins.
At the end of the two hours, all make-up application must stop and pre-judging will begin.
**absolutely no prosthetics can be applied. Beauty makeup only. Fake blood is allowed.
The judges will be judging contestants on the following criteria:
Hair and wardrobe will not be judged.
All decisions by the judges are final.
The following types are prohibited from entering the L.A. Comic Con Makeup National Championship: ANY previous and current L.A. Comic Con hosts, judges, exhibitors, volunteers, paid staff, and celebrity and Makeup guests. This includes anyone participating as a paid/non paid staff member or volunteer for exhibitor’s booths, L.A. Comic Con events or competitions for all three days.
